This collection is based on my fascination for male gender bending. Most experiments in male gender bending express a form of travesty or -on the side of that spectrum- androgyny.

MALE
By Menno Voortman, the Utrecht School of the Arts

This collection is based on my fascination for male gender bending. Most experiments in male gender bending express a form of travesty or -on the side of that spectrum- androgyny. These gender-bending concepts challenge traditional masculinity by stripping all masculine references or even becoming female.

With this collection I aim to fill the existing gap between wearable menswear and the earlier mentioned expressions of gender bending. I tried to create a new, different form of manhood, by experimenting with gender-codes.
Accessibility, recognizably and wearability are important values in this menswear collection.

About Lichting

The concept of ‘Lichting’ is simple: the best academy graduates of one year in 1 central catwalk show. In the audience are the 700 most important people for the next step in their careers: fashion journalists and influential stylists, ready to spot the next big thing; CEO’s and design managers on the look-out for talent; and the all-important players-behind-the-scenes, all eager to see what the nation’s academies have brought forth this year.
