ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Winner G-Star RAW Talent Award 2011

My collection is based on the principle of a twinset. The idea of a ‘two-in-one’ garment; two separate parts that only make sense in a combination of the two, inspired me. I developed a reversible design concept; by twisting half of the garment inside-out before cutting it at two different points, it becomes possible to wear the designs in four different manners.

The cutting and twisting divides the garment in top and bottom, which enables me to make a complete outfit out of one single pattern (two-in-one). I also get to play with inside and outside, the total concept being my own modern interpretation of the twinset. The silhouettes seem to be minimal and simple, just tops and skirts, though all garments are constructed in an almost mathematical manner. Handmade finishing, bias bindings, ribbons and linings become exposed by the inside-out concept and define the charisma of this collection.

Through extensive moulding sessions and experimentations in patters and fabric, this collection evolved. Coincidence, movement and craftsmanship are at the core of my design process.
