ABOUT THE COLLECTION

The starting point for my collection is the idea that in several years everybody will live in the streets. There will not exist sustainable housing anymore. Therefore you need protection during the night. I created two ‘tents’ in which you can sleep during nighttime, but which you can comfortably wear during the day. People find their clothing on the street, nobody owns anything anymore. I believe that the longing to express identity in clothing is of all times, so people change the garments they find, or wear them differently then originally meant. They wear their trousers backforward or wear a coat as a cowl. An important tensionfield is survival / identity (questioning the functionality of fashion).

There are selfmade fabrics in the collection, they express a feeling of protection and futurism. For example, between two thin layers I stitched a lot of chains, so it becomes almost like armour.Surviving in the streets is rough, but I see a lot of beauty in there as well.
