MARIA MAGDALENA

Maria Magdalena visualizes a journey of self-discovery and cultural reclamation, capturing the evolution from rejecting tradition to embracing heritage. This collection reflects a transformation from rebellion against conventional norms and tradition to an empowered embrace of one’s heritage, blending modern elements with a deep respect for the past.

Initially, the work focused on breaking free from traditional aesthetics, driven by a sense of disconnect from cultural roots. However, the process of exploring identity revealed that the goal was not to reject tradition but to reinterpret it.

The collection selectively weaves in elements of Bavarian heritage, honoring its influence while reimagining its place in a contemporary context. Each piece embodies a stage of this journey—moving from denial to acceptance, and ultimately creating a dialogue between past and present.

My work is rooted in storytelling, emotional honesty, and cultural reflection. I begin with deep conceptual research—drawn from personal experience and identity—translating these into garments that explore transformation, tradition, and individuality. I thrive on juxtaposition—blending the familiar with the unexpected and embedding subtle, provocative touches within my work. Valuing authenticity, sustainability, and craftsmanship, I use deadstock materials and local techniques. My process blends intuition with structure, combining tailoring, sculptural forms, and experimental textures. The result is a collection that reinterprets Bavarian heritage in a modern context, bridging past and present, celebrating identity as fluid and evolving.
