Wrapped

My collection originated from my love for materials and textiles. Textile development and embellishment often play a leading role in my design process. With ‘Wrapped’ I wanted to work with plain fabrics and tell my story through layering.

I was inspired by preservation techniques and wrapped objects. The change of identity once the object is wrapped intrigues me. As in a dream where things are fragmented and placed in a new context. I also looked into the designing techniques of Charles James and was fascinated by his technique of folding the fabric around the body.

‘Wrapped’ explores opacity and transparency in relation to the body and colour. It also celebrates the poetry and chaos of working with the accidental.
