Rosa Kampinga, born and raised in Amsterdam, graduated in Fashion Design from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem. Surrounded by art and a shared sense of aesthetics, she considers herself a modern romantic and aesthetic. She has always had a passion for music and the world and community the artists are a part of. To dive deeper into this fascination she loves to see what they are inspired by, to go straight to the source. For her, it’s a place where poetry, nostalgic creation and joy come together. Between her third and fourth year she had had a gap year to develop herself more in the workplace and had done internships at Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, Ann Demeulemeester and Jan-Jan van Essche. For Rosa, it is very important that her designs translate both nostalgia and joy and that textile development and design go hand in hand. The designs and materials she uses are in a constant conversation between fragility and empowerment. She loves to develop her own unique textiles and her graduation collection is a start for creating her own world and community. It is inspired by the nostalgic, yet joyful movement of post-punk. It is designed for people who are not afraid to make bold choices, are eccentric and provocative, and are sometimes slightly overwhelmed by nostalgia and melancholy. In the future, she would like to go even further and truly create a place where music and fashion go together and inspire each other.
